West Windsor Arts Council Community Art Project
September 19 @ 8:00 am - September 28 @ 5:00 pm
The West Windsor Arts Council and the African American Parent Support Group invites the greater West Windsor and Plainsboro community to participate in a community art project called Art Against Racism: Memorial.Monument.Movement. No art experience necessary! Everyone has a seat at the table and everyone’s voice is important!
We are seeking volunteers who can help out immediately by measuring, cutting, and ironing squares. Then, once the completed squares are returned, we will need volunteers to help sew (using sewing machines) the squares onto twine using a zigzag stitch. This work can be done at home!
Want to donate fabric? We are seeking cotton or cotton blend fabric in the following colors: blue, white, red, green, yellow. The fabric can be pre-cut into 12 x 12 inch squares. Fabric and pre-cut squares can be drop off at the Arts Center on Wednesday, September 2 and Friday, September 4, between 10 am and 2 pm. When you arrive in the parking lot at WWAC, please call 609-716-1931, for drop off instructions.
Please reach out to us directly to find out how you can help while still maintaining all COVID-19 protocols. All of the volunteer work for this project can be done at home using WWAC as a pick up and drop off point. Volunteers working at the Arts Center must wear face masks and maintain social distance. No more than 5 people will be working in the building at one time. The Arts Center features a fresh air circulation system and windows and doors will be open when possible to help ensure the safety of everyone.
