Art Against Racism: Manifesting Beloved Community
Deadline to submit work: December 15, 2021

West Windsor Arts Council and Art Against Racism, (both 501(c)(3) organizations), invite artists to submit artwork for “Manifesting Beloved Community” a juried exhibition of work exploring the relationship of community health with race, racism, and efforts to create an antiracist society.

“Manifesting Beloved Community” invites artists to explore what it means to live in a nation or world designed around social and economic justice without the ills of structural racism. Inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., “Beloved Community” represents a global vision where all people share in the wealth of a healed planet. Submissions that speak to or re-envision society’s transformation into a world of healthy people, relationships and communities in personal or public contexts are encouraged.

The exhibition will be housed in two locations – at West Windsor Arts in Princeton Junction and at Whole World Arts at MarketFair Shopping Center. Selected work will also be shown in online galleries at Artagainstracism.org.

JUROR’S STATEMENT
Structural racism continues to be applied to our lived lives affecting the environment, the choices we are allowed to make about what we eat, how we get educated, how we meet each other and how we grow, based on where we live, where our communities are mostly found and what is allowed to happen in them and what is not zoned for.

What other visions does art offer, how can it recontextualise us or point to ways out of/beyond/or differently within this context? Submissions that re-vision are welcome both beyond or within the lived parameters of our communities.
